Leslie (Les) Howard was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2019. During this time, Les discovered a little-known but empowering option known as aesthetic FLAT closure - a choice for a flat chest after mastectomy.
Les was able to find social groups online that supported her decision to go flat, but the meetup events were not local. Texas Flatties was created in 2021 from a need to meet face-to-face with other flatties nearby in the state of Texas.
Les and Texas Flatties are committed to survivors having informed choice when facing breast cancer.
Texas Flatties will be hosting it's 4th Annual Retreat during October's Breast Cancer Awareness Month in the North Texas town of Rockwall.
Our first ever road show was a big hit!
We were able to meet up with Flatties in their communities in person this summer, from Dallas to Corpus Christi and in between.
"We Gave Cancer the Boot!" at the Fort Worth Stockyards National Historic District.
Self-care was the theme at our second retreat that was held in the state's capital city of Austin.
